Perms & smoothing
Perms and hair smoothing in Robinson Township, Pittsburgh
Three texture rituals: one that builds curl, one that softens it into beachy movement, and one that takes frizz out altogether. All of them customized, none of them off a chart.
The approach
Texture work has moved on, even if its reputation has not
Most people picture the same thing when they hear the word perm, and it is a 1980s one: uniform rods, one solution for every head, and hair that announces what has been done to it from across a room. That is not what these are. A texture service now is a customized ritual, wrapped and formulated for your own hair, aimed at movement rather than at a shape.
Which means the consultation decides everything. Texture is the one part of the menu where what your hair has already been through matters more than what you want: previous lightening, existing color, how porous the ends are and how much length you are working with all change what is sensible and how long it takes. We would rather tell you honestly that your hair is not ready than sell you the appointment.
The through-line across all three is keeping the hair intact while it changes. These are the longest services on our menu for a reason, and bond work runs alongside them so the result feels like hair rather than like a treatment.
The menu
Three rituals
One adds curl, one relaxes it into waves, one takes it out. The right one is usually obvious once we have seen your hair.
-
Curl Awakening Ritual
The perm, done as a customized texture ritual. Expert wrapping and gentle formulation build defined, lasting curl while keeping balance and shine, so you get volume and fluid movement rather than a set shape.
Best forFine or flat hair that will not hold anything.
-
Coastal Wave Ritual
A body wave rather than a curl. Soft, beachy movement with airy volume through the lengths, built to keep your hair's own softness and shine and to read as lived-in rather than styled.
Best forWanting movement and body, not ringlets.
-
Silk Smooth Ritual
Smoothing, not flattening. Dramatically reduces frizz and refines the texture while leaving natural movement in, so the hair is silky and manageable instead of poker straight.
Best forFrizz, humidity, and mornings that take too long.
All three are chemical services and all three start with a consultation, which is free and which we will not skip. Tell us at that point if your hair has been lightened, boxed or permed before, whoever did it. If what you want is smoothness rather than a full smoothing service, ask about the keratin treatment in our nourish and restore collection instead; it is a much shorter appointment.
Good to know
Do you do extensions, perms and hair treatments?
Yes to all three, alongside cutting, styling and our full color menu. Bond renewal, deep conditioning and hair growth therapies sit under our nourish and restore treatments. Book a consultation and we will talk through what suits your hair.
Is your color suitable for a sensitive scalp?
It is what we built the salon around. Our color is certified-organic and ammonia-free, so there are none of the harsh fumes you get in a conventional salon, which is often what makes color uncomfortable. Tell us when you book if your scalp is reactive and we will patch test and plan the service around it.
What products do you use?
Organic and vegan only. We are a NATULIQUE concept salon, so our color is certified-organic and ammonia-free, and we use their Bioactive bond complex to protect hair through every service. In the spa we work with KPS Essentials clean skincare. If you love something, you can take it home.
How do I book an appointment?
The easiest way is to book online, where you can see live availability, durations and pricing across all our services. You can also call us on 412-505-8735 or send an enquiry through this page.
Book a consultation
Live availability and pricing are on the booking page. Texture is worth a conversation first, so book the consultation and we will tell you which of the three your hair is actually asking for.
