The curtained pedicure nook at Alora Wellness Spa in Pittsburgh, with a candlelit wall, a cushioned bench and a foot basin

Foot rituals

Pedicures and foot rituals in Robinson Township, Pittsburgh

A pedicure in a candlelit nook behind a curtain, at spa pace rather than production pace. Or an ionic detox soak, which is not a pedicure at all and is the one people come back talking about.

The approach

It is the spa doing this, not a nail bar

The difference is the room and the pace. This happens in its own curtained nook in the spa, under the same candle wall as the treatment rooms, with one pair of feet in it at a time. Nobody is working through a queue and nothing is running to a fifteen-minute slot, which is most of why a pedicure here feels different from a pedicure somewhere with a row of chairs and a television.

It also means feet get treated as part of the body rather than as ten nails. The rituals soften and hydrate the skin, the massage does what massage does, and the polish is the last step rather than the whole appointment. You can have just the nails done if that is genuinely all you want: the express pedicure and the polish change exist for exactly that. But they are the short version of something longer, not the default.

And one of these is not a pedicure at all. The ionic detox is a wellness treatment that happens to use your feet, and it sits closer to the head spa than to the polish.

The menu

Rituals, pedicures and finishing

The first two are the unhurried ones. The rest are there for when you want less time in the chair, not less care in it.

  • Ionic Detox Sole Serenity

    $70 · 30 or 60 min

A water-based therapy rather than a pedicure. A gentle current runs through the bath, and charged ions bind to impurities and draw them out through the soles, one of the body's more willing routes for it. Grounding and restorative, and people describe leaving lighter rather than cleaner.

Best forFeeling heavy, sluggish or wrung out.

  • Coastal Breeze Pedicure

The deluxe one, and the full ritual: soaking, softening, hydrating and finishing, taken at the pace the room is designed for. Named for how it is meant to feel, which is roughly like having been near the sea.

Best forWhen the whole point is the hour.

  • Wellness Pedicure

The everyday version of the ritual: the same care and the same room, without the deluxe extras. The one most people book most of the time.

Best forRegular maintenance that still feels like a treatment.

  • Express Pedicure

    $45

A fast, precise clean-up: nail trim, cuticle care, an exfoliating salt scrub and your choice of polish. Short, but not rushed at the expense of the finish.

Best forPolished toes and somewhere else to be.

  • Gel Polish

    $17

Gel color on the toes, for a finish that survives a fortnight rather than a weekend. Added to any of the pedicures above.

Best forHolidays, weddings and sandal season.

  • Toenail Polish Change

    from $15

Color off, color on, tidied up. No treatment, no soak, just a change of mind about the shade.

    Best forA refresh between pedicures.

The ionic detox comes in a thirty-minute and a sixty-minute version at the same price on our booking page. Ask us which is right for you rather than assuming longer is better. Foot rituals sit in the spa, so they can be booked alongside a head spa or a facial in the same visit, and often are.

Good to know

Do you do both hair and spa treatments?

Yes. Alora is a full salon and a wellness spa in one place, so you can book color or a cut and a head spa, facial or pedicure in the same visit.

What are the five elements in your spa menu?

Our spa is organized around Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Ether. Each element has its own energy and draws on rituals from a different part of the world: Mediterranean, Scandinavian, Middle Eastern, Ancient Oriental, and our own signature rituals. It is a way of choosing a treatment by how you want to feel rather than by a list of names.

How do I book an appointment?

The easiest way is to book online, where you can see live availability, durations and pricing across all our services. You can also call us on 412-505-8735 or send an enquiry through this page.

Where are you and is there parking?

We are at 710 Chauvet Drive, Pittsburgh, in Robinson Township, with easy parking right outside. We are a short drive from Moon, Coraopolis, Kennedy and McKees Rocks.
